BadgerMed is a network of UW Madison students with a goal of making healthcare more accessible, equitable, and efficient in the city of Madison by setting up an online resource to assist in booking medical appointments.
By the Numbers
We conducted a survey of 77 University of Wisconsin - Madison students to get insight into student healthcare experiences in Madison. Here are some key findings:
Difficulty
45% of students believe it is hard to get a doctor's appointment in Madison.
Leaving Campus
44.2% of students had to go home from school to get a doctor's appointment.
Delay
55.2% of students said it took longer than seven days to get a doctor's appointment in Madison.
11% of students said it took longer than three weeks.
The United States spends at least 6% more of their GDP on healthcare than any other country in the world.
Despite spending the most money on healthcare, when being compared against 11 other first-world countries, the United States's healthcare system is ranked the poorest.
